UNITED WAY OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA ACCEPTS DONATIONS FOR FLOOD RELIEF FUND

(Shreveport, LA) – United Way of Northwest Louisiana is accepting donations to help victims affected by Hurricane Harvey. This Disaster Flood Relief fund has been launched to increase resources and make the greatest impact in long-term recovery efforts for our sister United Way communities in South Texas and South Louisiana.

Monetary donations can be made through the United Way NWLA website. On the home page, click the donate button in the right hand corner. The url is www.unitedwaynwla.org/ways-to-give/donate/give/. Donations can also be mailed to the United Way of Northwest Louisiana’s office, 820 Jordan Street, Suite 370, Shreveport, LA 71101.

“This disaster will go down in history books as one of the largest natural disasters in US history. We cannot sit by and watch, so as we begin to prepare for Hurricane Harvey in Northwest Louisiana, we felt compelled to start helping our fellow citizens now,” said Bruce Willson, President and CEO of UWNWLA.

Funds donated will be distributed to the local United Ways in each of the areas affected.

Those interested in volunteering from Northwest Louisiana should contact American Red Cross at (318) 865-9545. American Red Cross is seeking health professionals, including mental health professionals. Volunteers are asked to be available for nine days (seven days of work plus a day for travel to and from), and may be required to take a short Red Cross training.
