FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Capital Area United Way Announces Project-Based Grant Recipients

Baton Rouge, La. (October 13, 2021) – Capital Area United Way awarded $300,793 in project-based funding that will benefit 22 programs throughout the 10-Parish service area. These individual, short-term, project specific grants will address problems in the areas of education, income stability, health or basic needs.

“We are thrilled to continue with the project-based grant opportunity this fiscal year,” said George Bell, President and CEO of Capital Area United Way. “By providing these grants, we continue to engage with the community, listen to our partners’ needs, and work to address them in a timely fashion outside of the traditional three-year funding cycle.”

Project-based funding is a mechanism outside of the traditional three-year funding cycle that allows Capital Area United Way to be more responsive to the community’s needs. Capital Area United Way identified examples of funded projects to include pilot programs, funding for volunteer projects, professional development, among others.
