Community Solutions 2008-2009: Poverty,
Opportunity and Solutions
The Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO) and LAUW developed the Community Solutions 2008-2009 which is designed to tell the story about poverty and offer information about some of the national, state and local evidence-based practices currently working to help end poverty in Louisiana. LAUW clearly understands that by working in partnership with LANO on this initiative, we can help to advance policies that will show promise in allowing all Louisiana citizens to reach their full potential and therefore contribute to the economic well-being of this great state! The Louisiana Association of United Ways (LAUW) represents 13 United Way Agencies throughout Louisiana and each committed to enhancing the human service delivery systems necessary to ensure the economic health of our state.
The mission of LAUW is to increase the organized capacity of Louisiana United Way organizations. The purpose of LAUW is to foster and enable the provision of efficient and effective community services for the citizens of the service area.
In 2006, the LAUW hired professional staff, including a president, office manager, statewide long term recovery coordinator and a 2-1-1 statewide coordinator to increase Louisiana’s capacity to deliver these vitally needed services and to demonstrate our ability to speak with one voice. |
