Capital Area United Way has established a COVID-19 Community Relief Fund to aid the residents and organizations of our 10-parish region. The fund will be used to assist in the recovery from the pandemic's impact to our local area. The dollars raised will be used to support our 2-1-1 and Crisis Call operations, funding for COVID-19 expenses as well as the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population who have been greatly impacted by business closures during this time.

For 80 years United Way of Southwest Louisiana has served the five parish region during catastrophic flooding and hurricane events and this crisis will be no different. One hundred percent of donations to the fund will be locally distributed for the purpose of assisting those with lost wages due to layoffs or business closures. “We are deeply concerned for those workers who already struggle financially and don’t have jobs that offer paid sick days or the option to work from home,” explains Denise Durel, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Louisiana.
