LOUISIANA ASSOCIATION OF UNITED WAYS - HOW WE WORK

FUNCTIONS AND ROLES
The effectiveness of the Louisiana Association of United Ways is in direct proportion to the quality of the Board volunteer relationship.

The quality of the relationship depends upon the understanding and acceptance, and execution of each partner’s function/role.

GOVERNING BOARD FUNCTION/ROLE
Establishes planning framework within which the Board:

  1. Determines policy.
  2. Implements selected policies.
  3. Monitors policy implementation

(The above is the legislative, or advise-and-consent function.)

STAFF FUNCTION/ROLE

The Staff function/role is as follows:

  1. Participates in and supports the Board Policy Process.
  2. Supports the Board in its implementation of selected policies.
  3. Administers the implementation of Board Policies which have been delegated to the Staff and for which the Board holds the President accountable.
